Intent of the artwork
This wall-based artwork opportunity within the Aboriginal Resource Centre (the Centre) and accommodation provides a crucial Welcome to Country and acknowledgment of the diverse language groups who will be visiting the Women and Babies Hospital in Murdoch.
The artwork may take the form of applied graphics, fine art commissions or textile works, with potential to integrate language alongside visual elements. The artwork may incorporate elements or contributions from artists from language groups across the state.
This commission is specifically identified as an opportunity for Aboriginal artists or artist teams, creating a welcoming environment for Aboriginal women visiting from beyond Whadjuk Country. The artwork is intended to be inclusive and accessible, resonating with visitors from regional and remote areas while honouring Whadjuk Country.
Cultural content
This work is intended as a Welcome to Country and a way to acknowledge the other language groups who will be visiting the Centre.
Artists engaging with these cultural themes must have cultural authority to do so.
Scope
The artist’s scope will be dependent on the proposal. It will include the design and fabrication of any sculptural components, the design only for any integrated treatments, or the supply of any fine art commissions.
For design only components artists will be required to submit a digital file and written specifications.
